We had a wonderful experience with the Glenbow this morning. Our speaker was engaging and provided the students with amazing facts about the regions of Canada and the First Nation groups that reside in each area. The presentation was an extension of our learning about the Regions of Alberta.

Our guiding question was: What makes cultures similar and different from each other?

Did you know...?
-the museum will open again in 2026
-it has 1.2 million artefacts in its collection
-there are 665 different Indigenous nations within Canada

-H.O.M.E.S --- to remember the 5 Great Lakes
-we spoke about the various climates of the different regions of Canada and how it impacts the vegetation in each area
-the Blackfoot have been around for 10,000 years
-porcupines DON'T actually shoot their quills

-pumpkins are ACTUALLY berries!!
-igloos are made of SNOW not ice
-owlets can eat 1,500 lemmings before they fledge the nest
-living in the Arctic is very expensive - a 4L jug of milk is 28.00 and a block of cheese is 60.00
